Revd Ben Scrivens

Ben has moved from place to place throughout his life, growing up in Wales, County Durham and Sussex. His journey of faith began as he battled with health issues as a teenager.  He encountered the Holy Spirit in his early twenties through working with young people. This began in a voluntary capacity whilst studying for a degree in Forensic Biology, and later turned into work through an internship Partnership between South West Youth Ministries (SWYM) and the Chippenham Methodist Circuit.

It was whilst working there that he became an accredited Local Preacher and candidate for the ministry. Ben then went on to train for the ministry at Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham and served his probationary appointment in the Barnsley Circuit.

Ben married Charlotte as he moved to East Grinstead. Together they enjoy travelling, being outside, films and playing board games! Anyone fancy a game?

Ben continues to enjoy working with young people and serves in roles doing this alongside the Circuit, District, Boys Brigade and the Scouts

In all his moves Ben has seen God working in the lives of real people – we might talk different, do different jobs, or show our “friendliness” differently, but deep down, we all want to be able to thrive. Come say hello, and let’s work out how we can all flourish together.
